Director of Bands
Mr. Rob Babel
Rob Babel is currently in his 13th year as Director of Bands at Fort Zumwalt North High School in O’Fallon, MO. Under his direction, the Ft. Zumwalt North Jazz Band has presented concerts twice at The Midwest Clinic (2004, 2010) and the Missouri Music Educators Conference (2005, 2009). The band has also performed at the inaugural Jazz Education Network Conference in St. Louis, the Puerto Vallarta Jazz Festival, and Disney World. In each of the past four years, the band has placed 9 or more students in the St. Louis Metro 8 All-District Jazz Band.
Mr. Babel’s other duties include directing the 110-member Panther Pride Marching Band, the FZN Wind Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. In January 2005, Mr. Babel was recognized as the Ft. Zumwalt North Teacher of the Year and the St. Louis Metro Eight Music Educator of the Year. He remains active as a saxophone teacher, clinician, and adjudicator and currently resides in O’Fallon, MO with his wife, Tina and their niece and nephew, Katie and Alex.
Patrick Stewart is in his 9th year of teaching and 4th in the Fort Zumwalt School District. He is the director of bands at Fort Zumwalt North Middle School and the assistant at North High School. His responsibilities include directing all beginning band students as well as the 7th and 8th grade concert and jazz bands. He assists at the high school level with the concert and jazz band programs. In addition, he also is the coordinator for the Fort Zumwalt Middle School Band Festival. Mr. Stewart is a 2003 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University where he studied trumpet with Dr. Marc Fulgham and conducting with Dr. Robert Gifford and Mr. Barry Bernhardt. He previously taught at East Prairie (MO) and Sullivan (MO). Mr. Stewart currently resides in Washington, MO, with his wife Krista and daughter Olivia.
Mr. Ryan Treasure
Ryan Treasure has been the Percussion Director at Fort Zumwalt North High School for 12 years, Assistant Band Director at Fort Zumwalt East High School for 3 years and was the Director of Marching Percussion at Lindenwood University for 2 years. Ryan began his percussion performance career as a member and later Captain/Principal of the Truman State University Marching Gamblers, Wind Symphony, and Percussion Ensemble. He has studied with Dr. Mike Hooley and Jim Chapin. Ryan has worked with, written for and consulted with many fine percussion programs in the St. Louis area and throughout the Midwest as well as schools in Louisiana, California, and Colorado. His percussion programs are highly regarded throughout the state of Missouri. He has written percussion for several original shows with Blue Devil Brass Caption Head, John Meehan, nationally recognized Visual Consultant Keith “Ping” Dawson, and nationally recognized composer Don Barrett. Ryan has also been published in Percussive Notes magazine and has been a featured speaker at the Missouri Choir Directors Association State Convention. As a performer Ryan has toured and performed throughout the United States and opened for several national acts including Jefferson Starship, Bow Wow, Johnnie Johnson, and Chris Duarte.
Ryan graduated from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music and received his Master of Arts Degree in Education from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO. Ryan resides in O’Fallon, Missouri with his wife, Tanya and their son, Teagan.
